Contour
Thread Lift
Contour
thread lift does not replace a conventional face-lift; rather
it offers patients an innovative, minimally invasive approach
with immediate results.
A
thread face lift procedure performed with Contour Threads™
is safe, conservative and effective. It offers subtle, natural
looking results. By gently, shifting sagging tissues in an
upward direction, this technique allows your doctor to
produce a relaxed, fresh appearance while preserving and
enhancing the natural contours of your face.
Contour
Threads are used for repositioning sagging cheeks, lifting
sagging eyebrows and adjusting asymmetric brows & face.
Unlike conventional sutures which are smooth, Contour Threads
have tiny barbs or cogs, that are spaced evenly apart. Once
inserted under the skin, they are fixed in an umbrella-like
fashion and with tension create a suspension that gently lifts
the sagging tissues of the brow and face.
Your
body generates new collagen bundles that surround each thread
to maintain the lifting effect. The exact placement of the
threads will vary from patient to patient. Contour Threads are
clear and invisible under fair or thin skin.
The
procedure is quick, usually performed under local anesthesia,
and if desired, a light intravenous sedation. Duration varies
depending on the age of the patient at the time of the
procedure, the degree of sagging and the number of threads
used. A typical procedure usually takes about 60 minutes.
Additional threads may be added as needed. Since this
technique is entirely reversible, unwanted effects are usually
easily corrected under local anesthesia. In most cases, there
is minimal discomfort, bruising and swelling. Ice compresses
are recommended for the first 24-48 hours. After a contour
thread lift, patients can usually return to work or normal
activities in a few days to one week.
It
is not uncommon for your doctor to suggest combining contour
threading with Botox Cosmetic to reduce facial muscle activity
or Thermage to improve skin texture. Liposuction of the neck
is another procedure that can be performed in conjunction with
Contour Threads.
